MW Bro. Dan Olmsted - Jul 2021 Musings
|"Dispensing Light through Happiness”|
July was originally the fifth month, Quintilis. After Caesar’s death the month was renamed July in honour of Julius Caesar in 44 BC, it being the month of Caesar's birth.
Brethren: The solstice has come and gone and summer officially starts. I want to thank everyone for your support, patience and for adhering to practices throughout this pandemic, to help keep everyone safe this past year. I have agreed to stay on as your Grand Master for another year and I am hoping that the year will be more predictable. We should be back to normal this fall and able to resume all lodge activities. The Saskatchewan Health Authority’s re-opening plan is dependent on the percentage of residents getting vaccinated. Please get vaccinated if you are able. I have had both my shots and I am looking forward to resuming activities without restrictions. My highest priority when we re-open will be to work with lodges. The Grand Line will be available for visitations and/or assistance with degree work and education.
I had the honour to present RW Bro. Frank Atchison with his 50-year certificate on the steps of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building. I presented the certificate after he finished his 265 km walk from Saskatoon to Regina. His goal is to raise $2,000,000, to be split evenly between the Shriners Hospital for Children and the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. RW Bro. Frank’s dedication to help the children in this province is unprecedented. Those wanting to donate can go to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital website or the Wa Wa Shrine website. Please remember that the Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan’s philanthropy is “Youth.”
Virtual Masonic Youth Leadership Camp 2021
Our GJW, RW Bro. Colin Zolc and his committee are working on a Virtual Masonic Youth Leadership Camp. This virtual camp will be held via ZOOM on August 7 and 8, 2021. There will be a two hour program each day, allowing campers to connect and learn. RW. Bro. Zolc will be sending out more details in the very near future.

Stay safe, and Happy!
