   "Dispensing Light through Happiness”

April is the second month of spring season and the fourth month of the year. In this month, the winter snow melts and spring rains nourish the earth, which warms and opens up to give new life to grass , trees and flowers. The name April comes from the Latin word meaning “to open.”

Brethren: Spring is here! The geese and songbirds have made their way back. The sun is getting stronger, warming the soil, bringing new life to plants, trees and animals. Spring is a season of change, not knowing what future nature brings and will provide for us. It is a season of faith and hope. We have faith that the rains and sunshine will start the cycle of life again as it has done for thousands of years and hope that we have a bountiful year of health and prosperity.

Vaccinations are well underway. We must have faith that the vaccines will provide us protection from contracting COVID-19 and hope that vaccinations are completed in a speedy manner so we can resume meeting in person. I encourage everyone to take advantage of getting vaccinated as early as possible. Please watch or listen for announcements from your local health authority. In the words of Dr. Bonnie Henry, “This is our time to be kind, calm and safe.”Vaccinations are well underway. Faith: is one of the three principal rounds or staves on the Jacob’s ladder which ascends to the heavens above and is the first of the three theological virtues. Faith is not only imperative in the realm of theology, but is essential in everyday life. Faith strengthens and enlightens us . You must have faith in yourself and in your fellow man, otherwise you will lack confidence, become discouraged, and be destined for failure. We journey through life making decisions based on a combination of science and faith. Science is founded on experience, reality and reason, and faith is founded on sentiment, reality and reason. In essence, faith begins where reason ends, because faith rests on reality and reason while also trusting in sentiment, in something you cannot fully explain. Nature provides a perfect example of faith founded on reason. We see and experience the day-to-day cycle of life, some of which we can explain by science, but there are a number of life circumstances we cannot explain. It is faith that carries us through life’s incomprehensible situations, and leads us to a place of peace and happiness.

“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.”  Norman Vincent Peale

“Faith is building on what you know is here so you can reach what you know is there.” Cullen Hightower

Happy Easter! May you and your families be able to celebrate Easter with joy, happiness and peace.
