Welcome!

Please come in, look around, and learn more about Freemasonry in Saskatchewan. The Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan, established  on August 9, 1906, comprises 58 Lodges and approximately 2800 members throughout the province. The "Craft Lodge" is the cornerstone of Freemasonry, the world's largest and oldest fraternity.

Masons do not solicit membership. You must ask for a petition for membership from a current mason. You probably know several Freemasons. Perhaps you have seen the Square and Compasses on a ring, pin or bumper sticker. If you know where the Masonic Lodge is in your community, stop by or look up their phone number and contact them, you can also E-mail the Grand Lodge from the main page or contact any other lodges on the Internet.

See the article "What is Grand Lodge" for more information.

Generally, the requirements are that you must be:

  • a man [NOTE: there are other branches of Masonry that accept both men and women, or women only]
  • at least 18 years old
  • a believer in the existence of a Supreme Being (of any faith. No particular religion or faith is required or excluded. All are welcome.)
  • physically capable of conforming to the requirements of the ceremonies
  • a resident of Saskatchewan for at least six months

Additionally, you should be prepared to commit one or two nights a month to attending your Lodge. You should be prepared to pay the annual dues. You should be motivated primarily by an interest in fellowship.

Masonry is not a service organization. That being said, the focus of many Saskatchewan Lodges is youth in the community. Thus you will find Lodges sponsoring students via bursaries or scholarships. Likewise the Lodges may be involved in life of their communities and in charitable work or acts.
